Horse Chestnut Tree (Aesculus hippocastanum)
Horse chestnut trees are a favourite amongst kids (young and old) especially in autumn when they drop the conkers. They are also AMAZING carbon absorbers which help filter out pollution and CO2 from the air.
These majestic trees need space to grow and would sit well in an estate / large garden, parkland or rural setting. They grow to a height of around 40m and can live for up to 300 years.
The tree flowers around May, fruits in autumn which is then followed by a stunning show of yellow leaves before winter appears. The flowers provide a rich source of nectar and pollen for insects, particularly bees.
