Description

Swedish Whitebeam tree (Sorbus intermedia). Cell grown, currently around 1.5ft tall.
A medium sized deciduous tree which produces delicate clusters of white flowers in Spring and edible orange/red berries in winter. These trees line many streets in cities in many Scandinavian countries. They are tolerant of air pollution and can withstand exposure to the wind and maritime conditions.

The flowers provide pollen and nectar for insects, while the berries are eaten by birds. Jams and jellies can be made using the fruit too. The leaves turn a nice yellow to red in autumn before they fall.
