CIDER GUM TREE (Eucalyptus gunnii) 1ft tall
A fast growing, interesting evergreen tree. Can be grown as a stand alone, coppiced or even used as hedging. An exceptional ornamental with an RHS AGM.

Exceptional cold tolerance for a eucalyptus it is now commonly planted as an ornamental tree across the British Isles and some parts of Europe. Fast-growing, it will produce a tree up to 37 m (121 ft) tall when mature, with growth rates of up to 1.5 to 2 m per year.

The fragrant leaves give off essential oils when they are crushed. Often used in tinctures, oils, ointments etc to treat many ailments including rheumatism, migraine and as an antiseptic.
The indigenous people of Tasmania used the sap of the tree to produce a fermented beverage called way-a-linah.

  • Commonly coppiced for firewood.
  • It can also be maintained as a small shrub or hedge.
  • Best in full sun, more shaded spots will restrict growth.
  • Very tolerant of soil types. Does not like waterlogged sites. Best in well drained but moist soil.

Trees, shrubs and plants, especially cell grown can be planted out at any time throughout the year.

Supplied shrubs/trees are currently 1ft tall and have been cell grown. Plants will be supplied without the pot for safe shipping with the roots carefully wrapped. Orders placed between Weds PM – Sun will be disptached on Monday to minimise time spent in transit and to avoid your order being stuck in the post office over the weekend.

Please bear in mind the plant is posted out via Royal Mail and may not look its’ best when initially unpacked. To help it along, place the roots in water for upto 30 mins as soon as it has been unpacked before planting out / potting on.

Cell grown:
Plants, trees and shrubs that have been cell grown can be planted anytime time of the year. Growing plants in cells encourages healthy root growth and because they are often grown in cell trays close together, the plants do not always have chance to bush out. However once transplanted the plant/ tree / shrub will bush out as it grows.
