Description
Coast Redwood (Sequoia sempervirens)
Also known as Coastal Redwood and Californian Redwood.
Unfortunately currently considered endangered in the wild, these spectacular trees grow to a grand scale. Mature trees are capable of reaching more than 50m in height (in the UK) and living for over 2000 years.
These evergreen trees have a thick layer of spongy, reddish bark that helps insulate the tree from wildfires in its natural habitat. The trees grow in a conical shape with slightly drooping branches.
These incredible specimens need space to grow and would sit well in an estate garden, parkland or rural setting.
- Max height: 50m+ in the UK
- Hardy to zone H7 (-20c)
- Fast growth rate

- Low maintenance
