Sweet Chestnut Tree (Castanea sativa)

A fast growing deciduous tree which produces lovely nuts traditionally roasted and eaten at Christmas.

The flowers provide an important source of nectar an pollen to bees and other insects, and red squirrels eat the nuts. A large number of micro-moths feed on the leaves and nuts.

• Produces edible nuts
• Thrives in well drained soil and in full sun
