Crab Apple (Malus sylvestris) – a perfect candidate for a specimen tree in small gardens.

Native to the UK and grown in Scotland. Delicate white flowers provide a wonderful autumn crop of crab apples and although the fruit is bitter it can be made into jelly, jam and wine. Crab apple is also an excellent food source for birds.

  • It will tolerate dry and exposed sites and can be “hedged” or allowed to grow as a tree.
