HORNBEAM TREE / HEDGING (Carpinus betulus). Cell grown in Scotland.
As a hedge, the hornbeam provides shelter, roosting, nesting and foraging opportunities for birds and small mammals.
Hornbeam makes valuable firewood as it burns slowly and is hot enough to smelt iron!
- Deciduous – although it holds it’s leaves over winter when grown as a hedge
- Grows up to 25m – medium rate
- Low maintenance & hardy to -20c
- Can grown in full shade, partial shade or full sun!
Supplied trees are around 1.5ft tall. Branches will be trimmed and trees supplied bare root for safe shipping.
