COMMON BROOM UK NATIVE (Cytisus scoparius)

Native to the UK and grown in Scotland. Broom can grow up to 3m in height and is commonly found in woodland and heathland areas as well as along hedgerows.

Broom flowers from May to June. The species is hermaphrodite (has both male and female organs) and is pollinated by Bees. The plant is not self-fertile.

This evergreen shrub can fix Nitrogen and is noted for attracting wildlife. The flowers give off a beautiful fragrance whilst in bloom.
